EVENTS FOR MARCH & APRIL

Saturday, March 15th, 2:00pmMarch Madness Kids Program -- On March 15th we’ll pause to remember some the greater moments and figures of Raleigh’s rich basketball heritage.  James Sutton, Director of Education and Outreach, will give a presentation on the history of the ACC.  Kids will then have the opportunity to cut out their own exciting basketball cards honoring some of Raleigh’s greatest players and coaches.  This program is free and all materials are provided. 

Wednesday, March 26th, 5:30 – 9:00pmSir Walter Raleigh: Beyond the Muddy Cloak -- As a part of our Raleigh City Museum 15th anniversary celebration, join us for dinner and a presentation by Dr. Elliot Engel.  Dr.  Engel will recount the fascinating and influential life of our city’s namesake, Sir Walter Raleigh -- an extraordinary author-explorer-courtier.  Using anecdotes, analysis, and large doses of humor, Professor Engel will reanimate North Carolina’s first and finest personality. 

Valet parking is available, and guests are asked to dress in business attire.  Please RSVP no later than March 21st by calling 919-832-3775.  Cost is $75 for non-members and $60 for members.  Please make checks payable to Raleigh City Museum.     

Saturday, April 12th, 1:00pmCelebrate the 25th Anniversary of the 1983 NC State Wolfpack Men’s Basketball Championship – Join us at the museum as players from that legendary team reminisce about their amazing Cinderella run through the NCAA tournament.  Special guests include Ernie Myers, Lorenzo Charles, Cozell McQueen, Alvin Battle, Mike Warren, Walt Densmore, and others.  Following a period of reminiscing, we will adjourn to a nearby restaurant to relive the magic and watch the 1983 National Championship game (NCSU vs Houston).  This program is free and open to the public. 

Saturday, April 19th, 2:00pm – Children’s Program: Fayetteville Street Mysteries – Kids will be invited to join Director of Education & Outreach, James Sutton on their own walking tour of downtown’s Fayetteville Street.  Each child will receive an investigation notebook and they will use information that they learn along the way to solve various “crimes”.  This program is free and all materials are provided.
