PORTRAITS OF RALEIGH: Images of a City and Her People
The call for entries for the Portraits of Raleigh exhibit was a huge success! We had over 350 entries. Thank you to all whom submitted. The judges met and narrowed down the field to the photos that will be featured in the exhibition, and we are pleased to announce the following photographers have been selected:
In order to display as many photos as possible, the exhibit has now been moved into our A.E. Finley gallery, and will be replacing the Higher Education in Raleigh exhibit. The exhibit will run for 6 months, with one set of photos being featured the first three months, and a second set rotating in for the next 3 months. Therefore, we'll be having an opening reception on March 6, 2009, and a second opening reception on June 5, 2009 as well. The Best in Show, Second Place, and Third Place that were selected by the jury will hang in both shows, but there will be a "Sir Walter Raleigh" audience choice award for each of the 3 month sets. We will also be projecting ALL the photographers at the opening receptions and throughout the exhibit, so the exhibition will feature hundreds of images.
Images shown above are a selection of the submissions. Photographers from left to right are: John Wall, Diana Bloomfield, Steve Bernacki, Lisa Michael, Patrick Day, Massimo Strazzeri, and Jake Kitchener.
